ATTENTION We have a problem that is proliferating the internet. SCAM ARTISTS Since we get phone calls from members quite often asking what I think about someone wanting to buy a part or car using this procedure, we felt it needed to be posted in our magazine as well as here.
Recently there has been a scam circulating the Internet where someone will contact a seller of an automobile, offer to purchase the automobile with a "certified" check for an amount somewhat higher than the actual sale with the stipulation that the seller go to the bank and wire the difference to the "buyer" ASAP. This scam has left a number of people with less money in their possession because the bank will eventually notify the seller that the "certified" check was in fact a fake and the seller would end up out the cash they sent to the scam artist. Please pass this information on to as many collectors as you can so that we can stop these crooks from gaining from this rip off.
Another variation of his scam is generated from from parts wanted ads. You get a call from someone claiming to have the parts for a reasonable price and they want to be paid by Western Union, or some other payment method where you would have absolutely no recourse. I know of one member who was scammed for $1800 due to this con. IF SOMEONE WANTS PAYMENT from a source that you have no recourse for, STAY AWAY and report that contact to authorities. . .BEWARE

Stolen Galaxies
- Bill Parks is looking for any information regarding his stolen STOLEN 1971 Ford 429 CJ Police Interceptor pkg. car, and should have the original, all numbers matching, FoMoCo issued VIN which is; 1N53P137808, and is located in whole or in part on the rear of the driver’s side 429 CJ motor head (in whole or in part) and on the front engine plate, on the left front inner wheel well, obviously on the driver's side dashboard, on the steering column, and on both, with metal tags, on the very special C-6 transmission (all 1971 P.I. cars came standard equipped from the Ford Factory with a 5 chambered C-6, instead of a 3 chambered retail, grocery gettin' C-6. This 1971 Ford Custom 500, 429 CJ police interceptor pkg., 4 Door sedan is medium blue metallic (FoMoCo color "3D") with the color black embroidered cloth seats and, otherwise, a black interior, also mounted on the car was an ANTENNAspecialists brand stainless steel whip antenna, which was mounted on top of the left rear quarter panel. If this car is seen or you know where this car and/or motor, or any and all other parts of this car may be located, there is a $1,000.00 reward for any and all correct, bonified information that will lead to the full recovery of this very valuable; one just recently sold, privately, for $26K to a retired State Trooper and rare; this 1971 Ford Custom 500, 429 CJ police interceptor is only 1 out of only 5 survivors known to exist, out of a total number of only 595 built by FoMoCo in 1971.
