Three years ago, Joe Miller started really getting into cars when he purchased a 1964 project car that was quite rusty. Then he purchased a rusty 64 parts car, and one thing just led to another. Before long he was doing some home powdercoating for his friends. And as a lot of us hobbyist do, he bought and sold used parts. Then he started having the powdercoat become in demand and had to branch out. Now he sells powder coated parts on an exchange basis or you can send him your parts for powder coating. Powder coating, as most of you know, is the newest way to dress up a car without sacrificing “originality” if it is done properly. There are powder coatings that match factory paint in looks, so closely that you cannot tell until you spill some brake fluid and you notice that it doesn’t bubble off like regular paint would. Plus, you can steam clean it or pressure wash it without blowing the paint off the car!
Well, now he does a lot of swap meets and is doing potmetal rechrome as well as aluminum and stainless trim buffing. In another words, he is staying pretty busy! Joe has a website http://www.joesrustemporium.com
where you can go to see what he has that is current. He also advertises in our magazine and changes his ads continually. With a great guarantee, he will either work with your parts or trade them out for finished parts if your “cores” are good.
Joe tries to be as honest as he can with descriptions, which in the car hobby is very important. It keeps folks from being upset with having to pay shipping costs back and forth for badly described items. He is not into “correct” as much as he is into show and driver quality parts.
Joe specialized in 1960-1964 trim, both interior and exterior. The aluminum he does is not anodized but rather buffed to a high shine and then the owner can have it clear coated, chrome plated, or even anodized if he likes.
He also sells used Galaxie parts as well as some reconditioned, aftermarket, and a decent bit of N.O.S. new Galaxie parts.
The business is a family business and his wife and daughter are his main helpers. He sells a number of cool items including a globe light that can have a number of logo’s of your choice put on it. He also sells very nice clothing, caps, and other Ford related items.
One of Joe’s recent additions has been a tape set that you use on the three back pieces of a 63 Galaxie. It is cut by a computer and you very carefully put this vinyl tape in place of the painted areas on the three panels and boy does it look NICE when it is all done.
He sells these kits with a discount if you are having your aluminum or chrome done.
As long as Joe keeps up the good work and keeps turning out the quality of work and products that he does, you can expect to see him around helping us restore our cars for quite some time.
